Women Only Simpson Desert 4WD Tag-Along Tour
Empowering Outback Adventures
for Women
Step into one of Australia’s most iconic outback journeys in a supportive, relaxed and confidence-building environment designed especially for women who want more than an ordinary holiday.
Our Women’s Simpson Desert Tag-Along Tour is not about racing through the desert or proving how tough you are. It’s about discovering remote Australia safely, building confidence in your driving and touring abilities, and sharing unforgettable experiences with like-minded women under some of the clearest skies on Earth.
Beginning in Alice Springs and crossing the legendary Simpson Desert via towering red dunes, remote tracks and vast desert landscapes, this fully guided 4WD expedition combines adventure, learning, connection and genuine outback experience.
Whether you’re an experienced tourer or taking your first steps into remote-area travel, we help you feel supported every step of the way.
A Supportive Environment for Women
Many women dream about exploring the outback but feel uncertain about:
- driving difficult terrain,
- travelling remotely,
- vehicle recovery,
- desert driving,
- or touring solo.
This tour is designed to change that.
You’ll travel as part of a friendly, encouraging convoy where questions are welcomed, skills are shared and nobody is left feeling overwhelmed or unsupported.
Our approach is:
- relaxed,
- educational,
- practical,
- inclusive,
- and confidence-focused.
You do not need to be an expert four-wheel driver to join us.
The Spirit of the Simpson Desert
The Simpson Desert is one of Australia’s great wilderness regions — over a thousand parallel red sand dunes stretching across Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
This is a landscape of:
- silence,
- immense skies,
- glowing sunsets,
- remote campfires,
- and breathtaking isolation.
Each day brings:
- dune crossings,
- changing desert light,
- wildlife,
- remote camps,
- and the unforgettable feeling of travelling through one of the world’s great desert systems.
This is not luxury tourism.
It is real outback adventure:
- million-star campsites,
- genuine connection,
- and the freedom that comes from travelling far beyond everyday life.
Ideal for Solo Women Travellers
Many of our guests travel solo and quickly become part of the convoy community.
This tour is ideal for women wanting:
- a safe introduction to remote touring,
- supportive group travel,
- confidence-building experiences,
- adventure without isolation,
- and the opportunity to learn practical touring skills.
Friendships formed around the campfire often continue long after the trip ends.
Don’t Own a Suitable 4WD? You Still May Be Able to Join
You do not necessarily need to own a fully equipped touring vehicle to experience the Simpson Desert.
Several specialist hire companies offer suitable 4WD vehicles for remote touring, and many guests choose this option rather than purchasing or heavily modifying their own vehicle.
Vehicles must have:
- dual-range 4WD (low range),
- good all-terrain tyres,
- recovery points,
- and appropriate fuel and water carrying capacity.
We’re happy to discuss suitable vehicle requirements and help point you toward appropriate hire options for remote-area touring.
What You’ll Learn Along the Way
This journey is also a practical learning experience.
Topics covered during the tour may include:
- sand driving techniques,
- tyre pressure management,
- convoy procedures,
- UHF radio communication,
- remote travel preparation,
- vehicle recovery basics,
- campsite setup,
- and desert safety awareness.
The goal is not simply to complete the crossing — it’s to leave with greater confidence and understanding of remote touring.
